Exciting plans and funding on the horizon

This week our new Management Committee met for the first time to discuss our exciting plans for UK Women in Fisheries! There’s new funding on the horizon, two webinars and plans for a women in fisheries mentoring scheme.

Our Management Committee have shared experiences across the whole supply chain - from hauling the catch to juggling production, admin, sales, marketing, deliveries and family life. The team also share decades of expertise in marine biology, sustainability, training, inclusion, empowerment, and informing industry and policymakers.

Impressive right? Look out for next year’s blog series where we share how the committees’ varied career paths have helped to shape the sector.

So where do you come in?

Our members are at the heart of everything we do. The fishing industry is full of opportunities but has a tangled net of challenges. We want to use our experiences to support more women like you to have a successful and rewarding career without barriers.

What can you expect for 2024?

We would love to welcome as many new members as possible next year so please share our update and direct your colleagues to our membership page.

We are currently looking at how mentoring schemes, training opportunities and knowledge partnerships could help to support you in the field and make the industry more inclusive. We’re also investigating how regional-specific support could help to address the different challenges faced in different areas. We know lots of you are working hard behind the scenes, and we want to make sure your voices are heard.
