Directors
UK Women in Fisheries is a Community Interest Company. CICs are designed to benefit the community, rather than private shareholders, and are commonly used by charities and community projects to create positive social impact.
Directors at UKWIF play a key role in the success, integrity and transparency of a CIC. Directors are responsible for managing the organisation and ensuring it operates with purpose.
UKWIF currently has a strong board of directors dedicated to supporting women in the seafood sector.
The employees and directors of UKWIF aim to meet virtually every 8-12 weeks. Together, we work to keep UKWIF focused o our community purpose, and share the legal responsibility with strategic leadership and operational support.

New Directors
We’re looking to strengthen and diversify our Board of Directors.
As we continue to grow, it is important that our board reflects the full diversity of the UK fishing and seafood sector. In particular, we are keen to recruit directors from each of the UK’s devolved nations - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland - and from across the whole industry, including the partners of commercial fishermen.
Nominees do not need prior board experience but enthusiasm, sector knowledge, and a commitment to our mission are just as important.
Directors play a key role in UKWIF leadership and governance. The position is voluntary. Director responsibilities include:
Providing strategic direction and helping guide the long-term vision of the organisation
Attending virtual board meetings and AGM
Supporting good governance, financial oversight, and legal compliance
Acting as an ambassador for UK Women in Fisheries, in your region and elsewhere, and supporting the Community Ambassadors in your region
Contributing knowledge, expertise, and challenge to board discussions
This is a voluntary role, but one that offers the opportunity to shape the future of women’s representation, recognition, and leadership across the fisheries and seafood sector.
